Giverny - Monet's Home (Sept 2007) : Monet spent the later years of his life living in a small town about an hour's drive west of Paris called Giverny. The grounds is preserved with the original house, beautiful flower gardens, and the famous japeneese gardens with the lilly pond, bridges and gigantic weeping willow trees.

Le Hameau at Versailles : "Le Hameau" or "The Hamlet" is a 12 house peasant village set on the grounds of Versailles on the banks of the Trianon Lake. This little village was built for the enjoyment of Marie Antoinette in 1783. She spent time here dressed as a shepardess experiencing "life as a peasant".

Dieterswil and Rapperswil (Feb 2006) : On the 19th of April in 1893 Gottfried Jakob arrived at Ellis Island, New York. He had left Dieterswil Switzerland, where the Jakobs had lived for literally hundereds of years, to start a new life in America. I have been fortunate to make three trips back to Dieterswil over the past few years. Here are some pictures of Dieterswil and big sister Rapperswil. These little towns are located just northwest of Bern on the road to Biel.
